Description:
Telaprevir, also known as VX-950 is an oral Protease Inhibitor (NS3-4A). It is being developed by Vertex Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of hepatitis C virus.
Commercialization:
Janssen Pharmaceutical and Tibotec are collaborating to develop and commercialize Telaprevir in Europe, South America, Australia, the Middle East. Vertex is collaborating with Mitsubishi Pharma to develop and commercialize telaprevir in Japan and certain Far East countries.
Clinical Trial Milestones:
The 1st Phase 1 clinical trial was started in June, 2004.
In December 2005, Vertex initiated the first Phase 2 study of VX-950.
Jan 2008, Phase 2 completed.
March 2008, Phase 3 started.
